Hello fellow ice fishing enthusiasts. My Son and I are heading to BOQ for our first time in mid-February. I am curious about the water clarity as we like to use our Aqua-Vu underwater camera. Looking forward to our trip and always enjoy meeting others who share our passion for the hardwater.

I used to use one. When it was high skies camera worked great. But when the hours of when the fish really going to bite or normally do it was to dark. That’s why I switched to a flasher. But yes it is clear water for the most part

I use one strictly for fun to check what's nibbling, and as '18' said, it works well in daytime. But sadly, that's not when the pickerel hit

Thanks for the replies, We use it mainly to check out structure etc. and, of course, the entertainment value. We usually do the bulk of our ice fishing in NorthWestern Ontario where the water is too dark, tea coloured, to get good use of the camera. My Son's father-in-law lives in Belleville so we are doing a Father-Son-Son-In-Law sort of thing. Really looking forward to fishing BOQ.

I know some people will say otherwise, but with walleye being so light sensitive, I found they shied away from by camera even if I turned the light down a fair bit. This seemed particularly true in Quinte. And yes, I did occasionally get perch and very small walleye checking it out, but the large fish never went near it and seemed to shy away from my baits if it was out. Just my 2 cents. Let us know if you have luck with it.

I dont use a camera but a guy i met on the ice using one had added some fake plastic vine plant around the cord and camera to hide it. Said the eyes were less camera shy

Good idea, Danny.

HOWEVER... the one that REALLY caught our eye in tonight's "Back to School" stuff was the 'jjcanuk57' suggestion - tying the Camera so the Lens was facing DOWN!!!

Dunno why - with OUR background - never thought of that, but THINK it is BRILLIANT!!

Can't help but close our eyes, and imagine how much more you'd see!
