Went Sat and was able to hook into 13 walleye and it seemed most were limiting out. On Sunday, only 2 keepers and 1 small walleye. Tue, Weds, only 3 small walleye each day and 1 Salmon. I think the walleye have left haybay, as we and others are only catch dinkers, 12 inches and smaller. Usually they come out last and make me think that most have made it to Lake Ont. What do others think. Have they spawn early and departed for bigger water?

Yes, very curious about the Salmon. Do ypu know what species ? How big was it ? Any photos ?

Yes, the bigger female Walleye are the first to leave, and the smaller males will hang around closer to their spawning areas a little longer. With temps still in the mid to high 50's there should be plenty of good fishing until the end of the month. And of course there is a resident population that hang around all summer long and never leave the bay.

It was about 9 or 10 lbs, close to 30 inches, looked like an Atlantic salmon. Caught 1/2 way from sherman's point boat ramp and rams island in haybay. Had a tag in it, so we called and gave the tag #. Might hear back from MNR.

I have found in some years there can be a lull or a transition time before they turn on. Lots of fish there

Maybe a Brown Trout...they look very similar to an Atlantic Salmon. They used be not uncommon around the corner in the North Channel.
