bought this at Christmas and have yet to install. Taking off my Humminbird 959HD because I want the side imaging option.

Question: my Humminbird takes a Navionics chip. Will I need this for the Garmin too for premium mapping?

No you won't need it.

I just installed mine last weekend. Garmin has Navionics included + you can download the Garmin Active Captain app and access the Navionics data on your phone too.

A friend and I both have the 95SV with lakevu G3 and both of us find the contours are way off compared to the navionics card in other units (knowing Garmin owns navionics). It's not only the smaller lakes but Lake Ontario as well sometimes by as much as 50 feet of water or more.
I haven't tried the active captain app yet, has anyone noticed if it is more accurate than the lakevu g3 or if the navionics chip is more accurate?
