PerfectlyPat and I got out to fish about 0945, headed east of Middle Hay Bay as there were 13 boats in view. Made our way to the mouth of McCabe Bay and began trolling in15 ft, marking lots of marks, all quite high in the water column. Headed towards the shore and the 9 foot level, trolled along that line and began catching fish, First a small walleye, the Pat got a 22 inch pike, waiting for more eyes, we landed multiple yellow perch, a silver perch, then I hit a 16.5 incher.

Turning back on the line, I had a strange take and pulled in a nice Crappie - Hurrah!!!!!

Back and forth several times and Pat had another good one, a 17.5 incher.

Looked around us and counted 13 boats from McCabes to Hoffmans Island, so we decided to pull the pin and head back at 1215 hrs.

Count for the two hours was - 8 walleyes, a pike,Perch, LM Bass, Silver Perch, and crappie, probably 15 fish in two hrs, can't complain with that action, never a dull moment.

All fish caught on the Orange Uzick and the Super Swinger Spinner.

Stay Tuned

Wow - great work, sounds like a great outing! It was my first time out in the Hay Bay area this weekend and spent most of the time drifting from the buoy to Shermans Pt. and then trolling along the north shore. Lots of small perch but did manage an 18" walleye and a large perch for the table. I also spent some time in Mallory Bay and got 3 walleye all between 24" - 25.5" - 1 on a bottom bouncer and worm harness, and two casting crankbaits.

Thanks for the informative post David. Were there any signs of shad coming in yet?

Good job Willard on your 1st visit to Hay Bay.

Interesting about the fish in Mallory, very early for that area.

Thanks for sharing.

Saw a couple pods of baitfish in Hay Bay

Marked lots of shad over deeper water sat and a lot of silver bass around. Hard to keep meat on the spinners.

Thanks BigMac. I heard there were large bait balls up towards Point Ann and thought they were probably shad. Hopefully they don't shut the bite down too quick.
