Quinte Fishing

Looking at the wind forecast for the lake for weeks now trying to find a day that Im not working and yesterday was it except that the forecast wasn't even close, it was a lie. Still managed to do some fishing but didn't do so well. Caught a boatload of smallmouth but only one over 4 lbs and a7 lb pike. Water temp was 75 and the water is starting to get the green tinge of color to it. The wind has been relentless this year. Was hoping to do a bit of walleye trolling but couldn't get out into the lake.

It's certainly been a bit of an odd summer. Typically in July we get long stretches of stable bluebird weather with gentle west winds. These are usually the result of a "Bermuda High", when a large dome of high pressure parks itself over the Mid-Atlantic and diverts the lows to either north or south of us. This year we seem to get a front rolling through every few days...resulting in the wind direction swinging all over the place.
Maybe, like most of this year, everything is 2 weeks behind and August will give us some long stretches of stable weather.
Anyway "a boatload of smallmouth" still beats working !
