Tried downrigging east of Glenora Ferry to see what we were marking deep. Trolled for two hours with no hits. Started pulling up lines and far amount of spiny Fleas on lines. Couldn't real lines up. Isn't it early for them? I thought August was when they were bad. Should I be pulling the lines up every 20 minutes to remove the Fleas?

Larger diameter mono helps (30 + lbs).

Otherwise ya, gotta check and clean pretty often.

July is the worst for them. By mid august they tend to go away or atleast a lot less of them.

Sorry... this won't help much, but...

...there IS some type of line they cannot hang on to. Can't remember what.

Searching more should reveal it... may be larger line, square vs. round, or...?

Sorry, at 79 our Brain is full of Fleas!

flea flicker line was discontinued in 2014. if someone is selling this stuff beware it is old. Blood run makes a 'Sea Flea fishing line"; however, I can't comment as I've never used it.

There used be "Flea Flicker" monofilament line from Cortland. It had an oval profile so the fleas couldn't grip it well. Not sure why, but it hasn't been manufactured for 6 to 7 years now.
Berkely Big Game monofilament in 30lb test works pretty well, and is widely available.

Recently purchased "Flea Stripper " from Grimsby Tackle (online).

Used it on 3 or 4 outtings cleaning braid.
Works pretty well. If too aggressive, can cut line, ooops.
Probably 4 times faster than with my fingernails.

About $55.00 delivered.
I put a little float attached to handle, cause it looks like it would be easy to drop overboard.
