How did the little ice skim that was on the bay survive the snow dump. I checked a few back lakes this afternoon and I was surprised to see no open water on the smaller lakes. Coved in a gray layer of frozen slush. Might be good shortly.. thanks

Two light swats with the spud and it was through on the back lake I checked today. Lots of slush water on top. Not sure how far north you have to go to find decent ice.

That skim of ice was thick enough for a few brave souls to do some ice fishing on it but now it's a waiting game again

It happens just about every year. In December we get some early ice and a few brave souls get out and have fantastic success. Then we get hit with snow and warm weather. Everyone is then off the ice for a couple weeks until we get a run of freezing days in early January. BATMAN
