Last April we were getting Smallmouth in 10 to 20 fow...never fished them earlier than that. l will say that the bite was on fire during that pre-spawn period until the season closed in May. Drop Shot and Ned Rig got the most bites.

Well isn't that wild.

Has anyone been out to the County side to see if the Pryners Cove launch is ice-free? The run from Finkles is a little long and sketchy for me in my 16' tinny but I'm only a 5 min run and close to shore the whole time if I launch on the County side.

Thanks for the picture! I got out in Jan, it would be pretty interesting to be boat fishing in Feb.

First time fishing in boat in February!
Add Super Bowl Sunday to the list of holidays and special occasions I have spent in boat.
Can't speak to the bass but the lakers were chewing of course Image

Nice catch Bobv75!!! I considered going out yesterday but felt helping the wife redo the bathroom was more beneficial to my health and future fishing trips. Would have been a stellar day though by the looks of it. Maybe next week.
Any chunks of ice floating around out there that may be a issue?
And were you fishing really shallow?

No ice.
Fish are all over. Didn't target them shallow. Kept it to 40 to 70 feet
