Hit bayview this weekend for the derby on Saturday, and some pickerel fishing on Sunday...

We decided to hit pike and bass for the derbie, rather than following the crowds pickerel fishing....it paid off for my partner's boat, who took the pike prize again, but we managed rather poorly...

The meal was fantastic....a fish fry of gigantic proportions...

Here's some pics of the derby launch saturday, the sunset saturday, and the result of a few hours fishing Sunday afternoon.

Oh, and of course, the catch we caught on Sunday would have placed us in the money for Pickerel, had we caught it saturday morning....

It sounds like you had a nice weekend.

I noticed the one yellow perch that your wife must have caught. How big is it? It looked like a large specimen, and very nicely coloured. Just curious.

Regards

its always a nice weekend on Quinte....i think its heaven...

if the bass aren't biting, at least the pickerel are...

as for the perch, Theresa caught it trolling a SpinnerRig off a bottom bouncer infront of Thompsons...

it was a little under 11"

our other boat managed a 11.5"er at the same spot, five minutes later....

so i'd assume there was a hefty school of biggen's feeding off Thompsons.

HI Steve,

Nice to meet you and Theresa at the weigh-in on Sat.

Yes, the derby food was great - didn't see you at breakfast :?:

I hope to get my pix up for a post tonight.

See you again - when it's a LOT colder

we were there for the breakfast...but it was a brief appearance...

we were still waking up 15 minutes before launch...

but the egg sandwhich i had was killer...and the coffee....amazing.

it was funny....the first time in a while i was at the park, and in shorts...

i like it better when i can see my breath.
