Anyone been trolling the weed lines of Mallory Bay recently? Curious if the August bite has started?

Fish are definitely in the weeds. The August bite started back in June this year lol.

What is a good choice for casting
The weeds? I’ve tried Weedless rubber minnows but I still end up dragging weeds in

That's the toughest fishing with cranks or anything, cast, take weeds off, cast etc etc.....

Trolling a spinner with a bullet sinker can get thru the weeds with less trouble.

I agree, cast remove weeds, cast, more weeds is to much like bass fishing!
#4 or 5 Spinner with 1/4oz bullet weight snaked real slow along outer edges and occasionally over top of the weeds, most of my fish have been coming from 12-8 ft of water. Some days they want bright n shinny, blue-purple n silver others they gotta have a green- chartreuse combo. Rig em up weedless by adding a 3" twister tail color to match blade
Hang on cause they ain't subtle when they hit!

Classic crankbait to toss along the weed edge is a Rapala Taildancer size 7 or 9.
