Fished last night west end of Belleville. 1st time out took my time going out and spudded all the way. Mostly I found 4 inches but lots of white ice patches that looks funny and it was one hit and through with the spud. Avoid those patches. Started marking a few fish at 4:30. They were very finicky, dead sticking with very subtle jiggle trying to work the bait upwards kept their attention but just as soon as you gave it a good jig they vanished. Lost 1at the hole

Fished out from Potter's Creek Conservation Area Saturday afternoon and where we were there was about 6 inches of ice. The bottom three inches were clear good ice with the top 3 inches appearing not as solid. Landed a perch and had a bunch of nibbles but nothing significant. Didn't see any machines out there and I personally wouldn't take one out yet! We wear floater suits and bring throw ropes and ice picks just to be safe!
