Looking to launch tomorrow there and was wondering if the recent cold nights have frozen it up.

Is the ice open to the lighthouse might try for walleye

Thanks Rob

I launched on Sunday and it was open with no ice nearby. We went out to the Gap to try for lakers (caught 3).
It's been pretty warm during the days so I think you should be pretty safe.
The ramp is VERY icy though so be careful walking around it.

Thanks.

I think it will be okay. Long drive around to finkles from there.

Hopefully we can catch a few fish

Good luck, if you end up going for Lakers we were marking pretty much all the fish in the 75-85ft range. Had some luck on both the north side of Amherst Island near the gap and the North side of Cressy on the west side of the gap.

We weren't set up for trolling so we were jigging. Had luck on both big swimbaits and a big yellow bucktail jig with white hair.

Thanks for the info

The launch was good.
we drove west towards the bat cave, but it was iced up a couple of miles east of the bat cave.
Almost were I wanted to fish , I could see it far across the ice.

We trolled along the ice edge marking a lot of fish many higher up in the water column.
Trying for most of the day with no luck ( trolling in 32 degree water is maybe too fast a presentation for walleye)

So at the end of the day we headed for the gap and caught a couple of lakers where you told us to go.

Beautiful day to be out on water , saw a couple of eagles , a pair of f18 fighter jets do a fly by and the roads were slush and salt free for the good of the boat.

Rob.
