So you may have noticed that both sides to the pier going to the restaurant are now fenced off.
so I asked the city who owned the pier and why this was done.
Please see my communications below. And when I asked about fishing the replies stopped.
Make what you will.

Good morning. I am wondering just who owns Myers Pier?
Is it private or owned by the city?
Regards.
Dave.

Hi David,

Thanks for reaching out. Meyers Pier is owned and operated by the City.

Kind regards,

Communications

I was just wondering who authorized the fencing that has been put up down there as I have enjoyed fishing from the pier before.
Regards.

Hi David,
Our Community Services department installed the fencing as an ongoing safety measure to ensure pedestrians and weight loads remain away from the edges of the accessway and in the centre portion of the pier. Throughout the spring and summer, the City will be continue to investigate potential additional improvements to the pier that would maintain its current functionality and protect users for the foreseeable future while longer term and more permanent options can be explored. You can learn more about the initiative here: https://www.belleville.ca/en/news/fenci ... -pier.aspx.

Also won't this stop any transient boaters from stopping and having lunch at the restaurant?
Regards.
Dave

At this point no more replies.. I do not know anyone who would weigh enough to break off chunks of the piers !!!!!!
So what's next? Closing the rock in case some one falls in.

Regards
