Ladies and Gents,

Had a great final trip of the year. Between the three of us we only boated 18 Wallios. That is up from last year, but the overall size is down from last year.

The overwhelming majority of the fish we caught were well in the slot. One trophy came home with us. A 29" 9.1 lbs wall-hanger for my cousin. Very nice girth on the trophy and all the slot-fish.

The majority of our fishing was in Thompson's cove and point. However, we boated more fish and larger fish... including the trophy in Mallory. Superdad... If you saw a Lund with three in it and a Planer board out up front... that was us.

We finally managed five eaters that Sunday from the area of the Old Church back to someone's sailboat. Our echos were stacking up like cord wood ( kind of like the good ol' days at Sherman's ) but only 16" walleye there at best.

In closing, I say fight the waves as best you can and hit the more open water if you want size. Stick to the proven weededges for eaters. I really feel the bigger fish are migrating back to the BoQ and time is you greatest friend. We saw a dramatic increase in the average fish size landed from those same areas in 28 days. We fished Thomp and Mall heavy in later August and our average size were 17.5". This trip the average size was 21".

Perch colored cranks and red-taped bronze-bladed spinners worked equally well for us this trip. I think ya'll will have a fantastic trophy season this year. Hopefully next year we will be able to get up later in the season.

Now stop reading and go get 'em.

Yes, we saw you in Thompsons Cove, Saw you land some fish. I was out there with a friend and I hit one after the wind picked up and drove us towards Hay Bay in the weed beds. As I mentioned in my post it was 23".

You had the good fishing as this past Fridays storm REALLY put em down.

We fished hard yesterday and today and the campground catch was two walleyes (16 & 23), a couple of LM Bass and some people caught a ton of perch.

The weedbeds and areas were doing nothing. Lots of baitfish with fish all around them.

My boat was the Springbok with the 'Mercury' decals on the side.

The fishing will pick up again.

Tight Lines C U next year ? or will you be back for the Fall run?
