I am planning on spending the holiday Monday fishing and want to go to Long Reach area because I have never been and have heard lots of good things over the years. My questions are if I am coming from Hastings is the best place to access the area Huffs, Deseronto (is it even safe to access with an ATV?) or even go to Sherman's Point. I want to use my ATV so I am always concerned about the ice thickness. If there is a closer or better access point to use and then bike around I don't have an issue with that. I don't have tracks for my bike so snow depth may be an issue if we get the snow they are calling for on Sunday. Thank you to anyone willing to help me out.

Shawn

If huffs is where you want to go I'd pay the 5 bucks for parking and go there. Lots of ice at Sherman's but don't know what the snow will like be after tomorrow

Thanks for the info Dan. I tried to go out of Trenton yesterday at the Dufferin launch and it was a 5 minute run with the bike. Lots of snow making the ice sag down and water on top making lots of slush. Even with chains on the bike it was going nowhere fast so I just turned around. The boat launch in Trenton is not usable for bikes or sleds this year with all the construction at the launch. Just walking access. So I will make a wild guess that it won't be much better tomorrow at huffs. So if weather is good I will put my gear on the sleigh and go for a walk if it's not to deep to walk.
