Quinte Fishing

Was out to fish with PerfectlyPat last Saturday AM ( a couple of hours), Trolled the high shore in Long Reach starting high in the water column and going deeper if necesaary.

Pat had a hit on a Smithwick Rogue, back 150' and a 100' for the planer board. The fish put up a real struggle and she had her hands and arms full. Thought it might a 'biggie' BUT - NO it was 12.5 lb Sheepshead. All in all - quite a tussle.

Heard of a couple from another Trailer Park over in Thompsons' Cove getting 6 walleyes for a total over 20lbs.... Must have cleaned out the place as Ken & Jo couldn't buy a bite.

Was out for a boat ride with some friends from Kingston and ran into Dan and Leon out fishing bass. Had a chat - nice to see you guys again on the water.

Pat & I went out again on Tuesday AM for a couple of hours, trying the weedlines in Thompsons' Cove, but hardly a perch bite, trolled a favourite path and I hit a 15" eye on a CC Shad, 100' back.

Back to camp and off to Kingston for a night or so.

Hope to be back on the water on the weekend.

As always, thanks for the great report Superdad. Andrew B and I are headed up the Merland Park Sept. 16/17 for the first time this year. We’re looking forward to familiarizing ourselves with the bay again and getting ready for this years annual. It sounds like the fishing has been pretty tough so far. I’m guessing the hot weather has the fish holding deep and/or tight to cover. Is there any kind of a night bite? Do you know if anyone is having success down-rigging?
