Went out to fish on Sat AM and headed to Thompsons Cove for a couple of passes in the weed beds using a lighter weight, Just hit the weeds and didn't see a fish landed, Shermans Pt next spot to visit and trolled around there for an hour or so marking a fair number of fish in the deep drop off on the Reach side of the Point. Nothing to report there.

Heading back, fished the weedbeds between north shore launch and Perfect Vue and hit a nice 2 1/2 lb LM Bass on the Uzick spinner. Fished over by the Church weedbeds to no avail.

Was out Sat evening with Hay Bay Larry, went to Thompsons Cove/Mallory Bay and Shermans pt, where HBL landed a fighting 5 lb Sheepshead- A real tug of war. Finished the evening with a pass or two over the Bayview Shoal with no results at all.

Hay Bay Larry called early Sunday and said he was marking a lot of fish at Shermans and they had landed one already, so after breakfast, I headed out to Shermans to be greeted with STRONG Southerly winds, HBL had split to Thmpsons. I bounced around for an hour marking the fish in the deep water again....... Wonder if they're walleyes or sheepshead?

Headed to Thompsons to get into the lee of the wind and trolled there with four other boats, nobody landed a fish as far as I could see. Headed west across the Reach and marked lots of baitfish, schools as high as 12 to 14 feet with MANY big marks hanging around.

Trolled a deep diver to Ken's Mountain, saw a few marks there and then into Grandfather Cove for a peek around. Where did the big weed beds go in that area????????? In fact couldn't find many weeds along the west shore in 8-9-10 feet, granted the water has dropped a couple of feet, but the weed beds always holding a pike or two and many walleyes are gone.

Trolled back to Shermans as the water too rough to motor at any speed, went to Old Church weedbeds and found the lee out of the wind, trolled and cast a while as other boats were doing the same, drifting and casting along the weed beds. I struck out, but one of the campers was able to land a 23" walleye, she released it. That was the action that I heard and saw.

Total for the campground as of 1700 Sunday, was two walleye, two bass and a pike, from approx 12 rods.

Looks like the Friday storm put em down. Try again next weekend.

Water temp was down to 68 degs F on Sunday.

Tight lines to all.

Hello Superdad

It should be getting close to that time when the big girls start in from the big lake.
What is your read on the timing considering the super warm fall we've been having?
Have the alwives started in yet?

Thanks as always

Hi Speedtroll,

These weather conditions are gonna play havoc on the fall fishing, if the weather continues warm the turn over will be late.

I've seen schools of baitfish in Long Reach, can't say if they're alewives or not. Will have to see what happening in Picton Bay and in the Harbour to see if the walleye feed is in.

I will be away from fishing for a couple of weeks, gonna miss Thanksgiving and the week after, so I'll try and touch bases with my contact list to see what's happening.

The weather is predicted to continue usually warm for a couple of months.

Who knows what's gonna happen. We could fishing in light clothes into the ends of Nov. That would be different.

Stay Tuned and we''ll see what transpires.
