It would be great to get a big water walleye tour going in South West and South Eastern Ontario. If the SW is successful maybe in the future Quinte/Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence could be added.

Right now the only game in town for us is the MWC, which I am planning to attend in 2006 on Lake Ontario and Erie.

Looking forward to the information.

I hear what you are saying Eye Tracker. Most of us who enjoy walleye tournaments have to fish in the US.

Now what we need is the support of anglers from different areas of Ont. Most of us have travelled to different areas in the States to fish so why not come try this series.

I have talked with the organizers to look at expanding but we must first make it a go here.

CharterTalk...
Agree 100%...We have to start somewhere  I will start making plans to attend. Not to mention my Fathers family is from Amherstburg area, where my Grandfather taught me to first fish for walleye on the Detroit River :D

Cheers'

Hey Bob,
I would love to see a Canadian circuit up and running, as long as it is a true walleye circuit. Not bass rules for Walleye, afterall I want to be able to troll and anchor!

Please give Dan the feedback when you are talking. He also needs to make sure that it dosen't conflict with the other major circuits.

I am one on the guys who fishes the full MWC East, and there model is absolutly fantastic. The most Professionally run circuit I have fished (including the PWT).

By copy to Sheldon.......There is no Lake Erie Tournament Next year on the MWC East. I attached the schedule below for everyones reference.

April 22-23 Detroit River, including Ohio portion of Lake Erie
May 20-21 - Lake Ontario Henderson Harbor
August 19 - 20 Saginaw Bay Lindwood MI

Hi all.
I am IN.
I live in Ingersoll, ON. I travel to Red Lake, ON, Dryden, ON. Winnipeg River MB, to fish tourneys. I have just signed up for the MCW Detroit because there is nothing else around. This would be great.
To the organizers, if there is anything I could do to help please contact me.
Failed in Quinte last year, coming again this year.
Cheers Clark

Anything which takes pressure off the B O Q sounds good to me.
Enjoy!

The largest walleye tournament circuit in Canada occurs in AB/SK/MB as a region at this juncture in time, withb payouts up to $100,000 if memory serves me correctly. Look up the Vanity Cup in SK or the big tournament that involves Lk. Athabasca, Slave Lake. It is surprising that something more has not developed in Southern Ontario, with the Bay of Quinte circuit having a couple of walleye events garnering some support, given the fisheries history. Just some tidbits.

A strong organization is the key. The Quinte Fishing Series hosting the Bay of Quinte circuit, has done an outstanding job, as have some other organizations in Southern Ontario from what I understand. Of course their primary focus has been bass, with some regional events like the Kiwana's in Trenton holding an opening day event that I believe involves a tournament/derby weekend.

I'll second that Don, on the Quinte Fishing Series. Their walleye "T" is not just a disquised bass "T". Live bait, trolling etc.. and fairly well supported. Usually happens near the end of May. Would be nice to see a late fall event.

During talks with the organizers we are making it a walleye series. Trolling, casting jigging. Sorry NO HANDLINING, but polelining will be permitted.

Detroit River tournament -Detroit River boundaries
We will be having lake tournies to fish.

Lake St. Clair-open waters run to where you want

Lake Erie- this tournament will be the day after the Colchester Derby(Greg Horoky Derby)
June 11???

All these tournaments will be 1 day events. Once again looking to start somewhere.

I would like to see this series expand and fish other bodies like Quinte, Kawarthas and the Soo.

We can make this happen. I will be bringing more info to the Quinte Get Together.

I wish you well at this. I am not a tournament participant, but do enjoy going to the odd weighin and have a great number of friends and aquaintences that are involved in Ontario, AB, BC and the USA.

It is my hope that more tournaments have some type of at the very least token involvement in regional conservation initiatives be it through seasonal lump sum donations or fees accrued per event.

PS Any idea what has happened to the Ontario Competitive Fishing Initiative? The models that had I had a chance to observe looked interesting and it did look like it might be a good thing for Ontario let alone the rest of Canada.

Sounds great. It's about time that we can have a circuit that is close to home. This circuit would cut down on some travel time for me. Chartertalk if you can pm. me the info with the dates once it's been all put to stone and where I can get applications it would be great. Exciting news for me and my tournament partner.
