Went out to fish Sat AM with Laker John. Headed to Q4 at the ferry, where we trolled and marked a fair number of fish. We trolled over them with six differnt lures and couldn't get a hit.

Channel 68 had some chatter of some guys fishing down by the Gap and they had a couple and a BAA- fish.

We trolled over past the west side ferry dock and marked fish in the area that was the hot spot a couple years ago. Headed east ahead of Dave Chatterton and the water was getting rougher, trolling four lines in heavy water is fun especially when you get a hit !!!!

Fish tangled one line and we thought Boy o Boy - BUT we were disappointed with a 6 - 7 lbs Sheepshead. Wind was really picking up and we had been out for four hours so we headed bay to Hay Bay rather slowly in the 2 - 3 footers.

Back out Sat PM and headed to the lee of the high western shore, MARKED a ton of fish over there and we put a dozen - fifteen lures over them - closed mouths on the fish................. Back to camp at 1800.

Sunday AM, we heard the wind blowing at 0400, nevertheless, we headed out at 0900 and once past Ram Is, saw the whitecaps from the SW. Headed to the Lee of the west shore again and trolled down towards cement plant, marking fish all along, some places had more than others.

Trolled back and forth several times, with the wind changing directions seemingly every fifteen minutes, hard to keep a trolling line.

Charters were all trolling down wind as the wind was coming straight down Long Reach. We trolled southward towards Mallory and at approx 1115, the wind BEGAN to BLOW. The slight swells grew quickly to 3 footers and maybe more. Enough of this trying to troll. Headed back to Hay Bay at 2000 RPM against the waves coming from three directions.

The wind was incredible- arr'd back at the dock at 1300.

Tough fishing in high winds - didn't see any nets from the charterboats so we can't say if there was any action there - from us only the sheepshead on Sat.

We'll be Back - not sure when, BUT we'll watch the wind forecast.

Stay Tuned

Another good read Superdad. You’re just holding out for quality and keeping the rest of us in suspense. 8)

The weather has been frustrating to say the least. The weatherman says it may calm some, then maybe storm overnight. Full moon tonight I think. And I like that evening fish. I haven’t seen anyone fishing the river here yet for pickerel . So I just might take a little boat ride, and tow a swim-wizz, or jointed bomber minnow. Not looking for walleye tonight, until last light.
