I saw this ad in the whig-Standard of Nov 17th and thought some might be interested. It's rewritten in my short form.

" The Ont. MNR is in the process of implementinga new province-wide fisheries management framework.

Two public info sessions are scheduled for Eastern Ontario.

Kingston:

Nov 22,2005
Legion Branch 560
Montreal St.
3PM - 9PM

Sharbot Lake:

Nov 24,2005
OSO Community Hall
Sharbot Lake
3PM - 9PM

MNR staff will be on hand to discuss and answer any questions or concerns you have regarding this proposed regulation changes."

That's the gist of the ad.

Here's a look at the proposed 'Fisheries Management Zones'

http://publicdocs.mnr.gov.on.ca/View.asp?Document_ID=9816&Attachment_ID=18658

Here's the whole spiel from the MNR form their website

http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/fishing/fmz/frameworksummary.html#framework

I wasn't able to access the Enviromental Bill of Rights Registry to get the add, Norton kept blocking me access RED ALERT !!!!!!!

For your information.

From what I can read, this sounds like an idea that has merit. Having areas divided with regs. coinciding with ecological regions makes sence in most instances at a glance. If I was able to attend, I would. It warrants public discussion and sounds like it has been thought through, but me being me, I would want to hear from more people and organizations about both the good or potential bad of such notions.

I do hope that others take the opportunity to become involved, less you simply accept what others decide and think for you.

Thank-you for posting this Superdad. Even being at a distance while working, I am very interested in what happens at.....home.

Regards
Don Stokes

Looks like BoQ will be in 20 with Lake Ontario but it is kind of hard to tell from the maps. Knowing MNR they will probably put the region dividing line down the centre of the Bay.........
