Thanks David for the info you sent me on Hay bay and the Uzick Spinner. We went out Monday starting near Thompsons point at 7am and my son caught a 5 LB pike and then we proceeded into Hay Bay around 10am. It was a sunny day and we trolled the weedline in about 10' of water on the N side. My son hooked into a huge pike/muskey near the Perfect Vue resorts on a blue walleye diver that broke water and unfortunately bent his hook and got off about 10 feet from the boat. I could see the fish in the water as he was fighting it and it was very long, fat and yellowish and thats why I'm thinking muskey, the fish was definately over 15 lbs. We caught a 17lber 3 years ago by Glennora so I know they're in there. We continued to troll along the weeds, I had a yellow/orange spinner bait, till we got to Ram island and we circled it till we had to leave. Boy is it shallow between the green buoy and the island, 2-3 feet. We left with no fish and I was wondering is the fishing better past the island, were we in the wrong spots/technique or they just wern't biting as the rest of the boats we saw. Let me know and thanks for the tips!

Patio,
Glad to hear that you and your son had some luck and of course the 'Big' one always gets away.

Interesting about the weeds near Perfect Vue, there's a huge weedbed between Perfect Vue and the launch site that I've done well in the past, both walleye and bass, I get the impression you might have been east of Perfect Vue, there's a HUGE weedbed right from Perfect Vue east on the north shore all the way past the Weese's House.

Yes it certainly is shallow between the buoy and Ram Is. I understand that some people who couldn't get out past Ram Is a couple of weeks ago because of the high winds did real well in the piece of water between Ram IS and the north shore, fairly close to the Island. A friend saw a boat land a very big fish almost in front of the dock on Ram Is.

We fish the weedline right on the North shore and have done well in there for pike with big heavy gold spoons.

I'll be getting back out on the 26th of Oct and will report what I see and hear.

Tight Lines
