We had our first trip out this morning on the long reach, ( quick short rd) about 3-5" of ice not quite halfway out. We only had 2 hits with myself catching one just over 11bs. About 6 others at huffs rd, under the skyway bridge we saw 4 fishermen and a OPEN channel not far from them.West of the bridge there is also open water, must have been that icebreaker that went through. Tight lines

I begin my trek to BoQ from Denver, CO this Friday (Jan. 6) with the hopes of ice fishing by early Saturday (flying into Detroit) then by way of car with my brother and nephew. I understand ice conditions are not ideal, but has anyone been fishing near Trenton to give the latest on ice conditions and fishing?

Also, has anyone driven from Detroit to Trenton? How long of a drive? Best to take 401 or the northern route?

Looking forward to the trip.

Take the 401 from Windsor to Trenton. It will take you approximately 5.5-6 hours of straight driving in perfect driving conditions. Traffic in Toronto can slow you down big time. That is going at the speed limit plus a bit.

Good luck on your trip
