Fished the bay a ton last summer and caught a lot of 4 and changes but couldn`t break the 5lb mark. 4.33, 4.38, 4.85, 4.2,. This fishery is awesome and it wont be long when it rivals Rice lake....if it doesn`t already. IF I recall summer of 2004 the biggest largie come out of quinte out of all the tournies in Ontario at 7.26lbs (correct me if its wrong)
Out of all my years of fishing I always wanted a place on Stony because I just love that lake but the tide is slowly turning as Quinte just keeps producing good fish and lots of them.
What areas do you think is the best place around the bay for largemouth?
I like Hay Bay myself.

I have never really focused on bass at Quinte, with a paltry 3 pd. smallmouth and a slightly smaller largemouth being my only specimens and local personal bests. I have heard of an 8+ pder and believe that bigger are coming, given that there are multiple strong year classes coming up.

When I am back home and interested in bass, I generally gravitate towards some headwaters of assorted rivers flowing into the Bay of Quinte, given my enjoyment of quiet times while fishing.

I am amazed that more guests from the nearby northern border states do not target them, given how healthy this fishery is.

Regards
Don Stokes

Steve,
Out of your wish list for 2006 the only one I dont see happening is the Muskie out of the reach. Although ...a few years back while doing some fall trolling in the area I had something on that spooled me and took my planerboard too. I was able to get back the board. I have no ideal what it was but I tried everything to slow it down and I couldnt stop it. 8O 8O 8O so ounever know it coulda been a muskie or it coulda been a big ole tail hooked drum????

Had a Muskie hit my topwater by thompsons pt once and saw it clear as a bell....about 20lbs no monster but a good fish. IT WAS NOT A PIKE. My buddy caught one a few years back near the Belleville bridge through the ice about 10lbs. Not as many as years gone by but there is a few left.
Was trolling on the west side of thompsons with a deep diving crank and something hit me real hard!! Had it on for a minute or so and was watching the line move all over the place and snap gone  all I wanted was to have a look at it.
Steve its always nice to dream!!! I do it everyday!!!
