FYI, upon arriving at work tonight I found out that 3 guys broke thru the ice off of Trident Point (Big Bay Area) somtime this afternoon... one person isn't doing so well. All 3 rescued with an ARGO and apparently the one person was in the water for quite a few minutes.
Just another heads up to keep your wits about you out there if you're venturing out.
Play safe,
Hopps

From what I can tell, this group had ventured out about 2km's or so from the Big Island side (I believe Marker # 46 is right near there... pls correct me if I'm wrong). Not only did this take them further towards where the current is strongest, it also made the resuce efforts much slower.

Thats right Hopper,
The current runs right through there. As i mentioned previously the safe ice is in the slack back water areas, not anywhere near the middle of Big BAy.
