Went for a drive yesterday with PerfectlyPat heading to Prince Edward County. Drove 133 and observed the following:
Finkle Park(Bath) Launch Ramp Iced in
North Channel from Bath to the ferry Ice covered although it appeared to be fresh ice, very smooth and looks thin - no boating.
Ferry Terminal - thin path for the ferry to run, ice all over.
View of the Cement Plant - iced over
In the county, Picton Bay all ice - didn't see any sign of fishing(shacks or people).
Headed west from Picton pass East Lake - all ice no signs from the road of anyone fishing.
The Outlet is frozen over - won't launch for a while
Walked the beach at Sandbanks for a bit, the edge is ice covered from the waves and the seagulls were feeding VERY close to shore. Is that a sign??????
Left there and headed for Trenton, saw the ice boats as we entered the city limits.
Had a nice chat with Joan and Randy at Turners' Tackle about the state of ice fishing and fishing in general. Nice to see them again. Picked up Big Jim's latest publication - it's good to read about the ice fishing when you can't get out.
Late in the day, headed back to Kingston.
Doesn't look like we'll get out for Lakers and browns in the boat, BUT, Shorefishing is a distinct possibility (especially with a fly rod).
Stay Tuned.
