Hay Bay Larry and I set out Sat afternoon from Shermans launch site and head over to Shermans to check out the deep hole close to the light house.
Marked lots of fish in that area, so we made several passes from the deep hole out to the Red Marker, headed to West Shore towards Grandfather Cove, marked significantly smaller fish in that area.
Off towards Thompsons and the DEEP holes over there, the fish appeared to be stacked in the 35 - 40 foot depths and hardly any fish in the 40 -50 foot depths.
We trolled over a big school of fish with big, small, high and deep, but we couldn't get a strike. As darkness approached we headed back to Shermans to run over those fish again, I had a fish bump into my lure but no takers.
Talked to a chap who fishing near us Sat PM and he had one release from his downrigger- that's all.
Was planning on going out Sunday AM, but the winds were quite high and we decided that discretion is the be better part of valor and didn't go out.
Talked to a boat at Shermans Launch this morning amd they voiced an opinion that the fishing has shut down for the last five days. They were with a group and their walleye contest board had a 10.8 and a 2lber, they guys I talked to had two bass and one pike in five days.
The water temperature last night (Sat) was 44 degs F.
Hope the fish turn on.
Tight Lines.
PS. Nice to talk to a Board Lurker last night at the launch site - Salut !
