duber, I have not caught them on spinning tackle but my brother has, a jig with a twister tail will do the trick, I use a mickey finn fly, I sight fish for them, when I see one, I cast on a diagonal to them, if they like the fly, they will turn and slowly follow, when they start getting closer, speed up your retrieve and they will get the urge to lunge for it.

raven, the grand river is one awesome fishery !! I'm planning a trip some time this year to fergus for browns. Never heard of eating them, but hope these natives were careful of the females if they were eating those, the eggs are toxic and can kill anyone or thing who eats them (how's that for caviar !??) guess you'd have to know how to clean them properly, I love fishing for them but hate handling them, those scales are sharp and they feel really uncomfortable to handle, also when they get angry one can lose fingers if not careful.
