Well our year trip to the Bay has come upon us, and by the looks of the posts, it maybe still early..
We usually fish the Tellagraph Narrows & Deseronto year after year and now it looks like we'll be heading to Picton for some action.. Here's our problem, we have no riggers or rods set up for flat lining.. So can anyone please tell me where would be a good place to start jigging for a chance at some fish.. We like the idea of fishing with live bait...

I have purchased an great map of the area and the water levels out this way seem quite deep.. Not sure where to start..

Any help with a starting point will do.

Thanks..

I think the reason alot of anglers are saying the fishing is slow is because the fish are just not in the bay in any big concentrations yet. I would start at the ferry and held out in the lake. You may be surprised with what you may find out there. As for the comment about Dr. Death , you could be not further from the truth. Make sure you're running board's or atleast running a lead with 200 yrds of braid on what ever deep lure your useing . Good Luck this weekend.

Well, we're back.. I know, I know, our trip was cut short.. We got pounded !! Not by fish though... We arrived in Picton to lauch the boat @ 7:20am and the water this morning was really rough.. Saw a gent there and he had just returned saying it was too rough to head out.. So we turned around and headed for the public launch in Deseronto.. Met 2 gents there with an Alumicraft powered by 100 hp Yamaha.. Friendly guys.. They said that we all must be a little loose to be heading out in this weather.. We agreed but got the boats ready anyway.. They said they were heading to Shermans Point, as were we..

We started heading out and our 14 footer was just getting pounded over and over again.. Our survival suits were complete iced up from the water hitting us... Made it to Shermans, still a good chop, drifted with minnow with no luck.. Made 5 passes drifting to the red marker, with no hits.. Winds seemed to have changed and began to get a little stronger.. We trolled from the lighthouse to the red marker and back a couple of times with no luck..

Winds again were pounding us.. Not a good idea to be out in a 14 footer today.. Watched the Alumicraft troll the same area and they seemed to have got nothing either, although they said they were marking allot of fish.. Trolled again with no luck, so we had decided to pack it in as the winds changed direction.. Noticed 2 other boats show up and head into Thompsons Point @ 10:00am.. Well all hell broke loose trying to get back to the ramp.. Boat was entirely iced up and so were we.. water everywere.. Not a very pleasant day.. No fish, oh well !! Next time !!

Just a note: We had no down riggers as mentioned before.. We were trolling with a 1 1/2 ounce weight with a 6 foot lead to the lure.. Seemed to get the line down fine if only the weather was on our side...

Good luck and a safe trip to all....

Bill
