Went to Bay of Quinte from Aug 7 – 10, stayed at Mohawk Bay Trailer Park.
Day 1: High waves, and we tried spring spots. Skunked. I guess you can’t make and omelet without cracking eggs.
Day 2: Trolled spinners at Foresters Island, NOTHING :(
Carman Shoal NOTHING :x
Catalaque Shoal, Dad caught a decent Smallie 2 LB and a few perch and silver bass. :)
We’ve come to the conclusion that we could no longer fool the walleyes in this area of the bay, so we change our target to bass.
We went to this promising shore point near Cole Wharf, and I caught a nice Largemouth using modified drop-shot rig with live leeches. :D
Day 3(full moon 8O ): Action really picked up around 0900, Dad started with a 2 ½ lb Smallie, and immediately we marked the GPS coordinates. We were fishing Catalaque Shoal, 20 FOW, and the surface temperature was 77F. More than 20 smallies were caught and we kept a couple bigger one for the table. Biggest fish was caught by dragging tubes. 4.6lb 8)
Day 4: We went back to the same location, but no fish were found, and again we went to the promising spot near Cole Wharf. A mix bag of Smallie & Largie were caught, biggest fish was around 2 ½ lb. Kept 4 fish. :)

When I was filleting, I switched to electric filleting knife. OH MY, I felt like I was cheating! :o It was fast and precise. The blade would cut perfectly, and it would glide over even the smallest bones. Highly recommend!

All and all it was a great trip, and the action on Day 3 was definitely first time for all three of us. Those fish tasted great! No worms and the meat were delicious. As always, excellent custom service from MBTP and special thanks to the host Dave Hogeboom for “helping us when we needed him the most.“

TY for sharing, good JOB on the SM!!!! I agree I thought the electric knife would be useless, tried it last year and if I had to choose my Rapala knife or an electric kinfe, Id go electric, less mess, and alot quicker!

"Biggest fish was caught by dragging tubes. 4.6lb"

I've been doing that lately, sure works great 8) try deadsticking as well, just cast that tube and let it sit on the bottom and don't move it, it takes patience, and you have to be on a feeding route, the smaller bass won't touch it but the big ones will come along, suck it up and take off with it. doing this got me 3 bass all over 3lbs in one hour in frankford, I couldn't believe it worked, but it did. :D
