A few of my friends and I are having a great time fishing walleye. On one outing we were actually after bass and we could not keep the walleye off our lines. The trick is at dusk move in to the shallows(five foot and less and start jigging or casting and you will be shocked on what you catch. As a lot of you already know I love to fish any and every way and latley we have been doing a lot of fly fishing for bass and walleye both by wading and from boats and every night for the last month at dusk we are hammering walleyes from small to the big boys. The bass fishing on the fly has been a riot,.....small to 4 and 5 pounders. Quanities ? too many to count. If you have never fought a walleye or a bass on a fly rod you're really are missing out on a lot of fun.
We have also been doing quite well on rip jigging the weed beds in 4 to 10 foot of water for wally's. With this method you may as well leave your live bait at home , the first rip, your live bait is gone. The trick is to use a jig head with a yum curly tail. Colour will have to figured out. One day we went out and slammed them on black tails the very next day after about an hour we found white was the preferred colour.
This is prove that changeing your methods and adapt to what mother nature is dictating you will produce. Our group of fisherpeople have had a great year for wally's and bass by trolling , jigging and flyfishing but its all due to changeing up when good old mother nature says to.
Have fun and remember bring everything back that you took with you......Ron

Sounds like great advice! But when you are casting the shallows, what lures/colours are you using to bang into walleyes? Thanks!
