Reports of one or two salmon being spotted at the first dam. Was down there on sunday and again last night, couldn't spot any myself.

Check the deeper pool by the footbridge.. They will hang there for a while before they go right to the damn.

I am far away from home with work but have noted that by Oct 10 of most years, that the salmon are usually in at Napanee.

Thanks Don.....I usually start fishing around the Thanksgiving weekend for them. I have my son-in-law coming down from Chattam this weekend so we may make the tour or go head out for walleye.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Cheers

A rain will be the clincher. I have seen them moving in during a nice rain and have been puzzled that everyone focuses their efforts so intently on the falls pool, and miss other opportunities just downstream. Good luck.

salmon run will be fun, but I'll really be on the lookout for browns and rainbows more than anything, friend of mine from out of town caught a nice steelhead on the spey rod last year, they ususally come in alot later than salmon though, some hang around all winter with some being caught in january out in trenton. I'll be in the river on sunday and have a look downstream and see how it's going

I trust that you fine gentlemen will keep us posted in some fashion. Working where I do (away from home) is a blessing and a curse, and I try and keep track of a few tings in the area. The falls in Napanee is a personal favourite (I have hardly fished it since I was a kid....just during the slow crowd times), with some things like the crowds, catch, garbage, unique observations all being most welcome information.

Regarding just downstream, the time to seriously look is just after a rain for the most optimum possibility of activity.

Good luck and enjoy your Thanksgiving to everyone.
