This cooler weather has got me thinking and planning my ice fishing season. I am updating my stock of lures and I am wondering what else was successful on the BOQ last year? Red and Blue Champs seemed to be the ticket last year, they weren't hot all the time but I will usually start with the Mr. Champ.

Hold your horses Jutty. The ice fishing season can't be far enough away as far as I'm concerned. Pulling fish that are semi comatose through a 4 inch hole while my snot is forming icesickels is not my idea of fun. Besides, ice fishing is far too dangerous a sport in BOQ or anywhere else that the mean winter temperatures are not -30 centigrade. Every year young men leave widows and orphans from this activity and I am sick of hearing of it. Ice fishing should be in the same classification as blind folded tight rope walking without a balance pole. With an ice fishing accident, there is no second chance.

Did I miss something here?

Stanley20Footer...no offence please, but you seem to be taking a different approach to your responses. Mid-life crisis :)

First that fishing isn't physical enough to be a work out, now you're dissing ice fishing? I know that I don't come home from a fishing trip thinking of how good of a work out it was, nor do I care. As for ice fishing... I think it's a major work out. Walking across a frozen lake, pulling all of your fishing stuff, wearing clothes that prevent you from scratching your butt is a pretty darn good work-out.

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed?

However, I do agree that it's a terrible, terrible shame that accidents do occur....but it sickens me to hear it and my heart goes out to those affected just like it does during soft water accidents.

Cheers

We have ice fished up there the last 2 yrs. and I still swear by the sidewinder in 3/4 oz as favorite and 1/2 oz as second. Swedish Pimples have caught their fair share as well.
