Well folks I finally got out. I didn't get a partner, so off I went by myself.I left my house and 60 mins later I arrived in the fog at the ferry
In the water at 830am and there were 10 boats starting at the ferry and general area. I started to troll as soon as I marked a fish and went east into the deeper water. 118'-135'. I was marking most fish in the 124' area suspended 14'-62'.
Boats all around me were using 2 to 4 inline planer boards and it was working for them. I witnessed numerous nets over the side bringing in some beauties.
One boat got a double header of sheeps over 12lbs. Another boat got 2 in 5 minutes. The guys I spoke with had been there for three days and had done well each day with up to 10 fish per day.
The colors for the overcast and foggy day were blue and silver, black and purple(spoons would you believe). Dr. Death and Stretch 20's grey.
I was using flat line and a downrigger. Results.......nothing, no hits, loses, near misses or releases. I didn't have the lures others were using. You can't have everything but when you read this board and are heading out, buy the gear and make it worth while.
Although I had a homemade planer board it didn't produce but it was interesting to use as it bobbed along.
I had a great day regardless of not catching anything, learned from others and I will be back. I left at 230pm when the water was like glass and about 10C.
Just a note for others going out. The lighthouse others speak of is a red and white channel marker the north shore. Some call it a candle. It is 2-3km east of the ferry. I was fishing south of this, closer to the south shore in 124' with other boats. Most fish that I seen caught were near the south shore.
Good Luck and sorry for the rambling.

Good report, too bad you couldn't hook-up. We went thru that last week.

Gonna try again Saturday in the rain.

Stay Tuned

sorry you didn't have more luck, however, there is an actual lighthouse on the ferry launch shoreline, down a few miles.....
