Out on the water at 830am many boats already out enjoying the day. Very mild and glass like conditions. We trolled east of the ferry. 12-15 boats trolling in the 60-85ft water with a few nets over the side. Most fish were marked in the 50 -60ft range in our boat. Most boats were within 1-1.5 kms east of the ferry.
Our first and only fish came at 1215pm after switching to a silver and blue Williams spoon 5" long, 75ft behind the ball. It was on the downrigger while going against a 5km/h wind that came up. I was set at 48ft. We had spoken to another fisherman as we passed him and he said he had 3 that morning on a silver and blue lure so that is what scored one for us. 2.9lbs and tasted great for supper.
While cleaning this fish, it was full of eggs and nothing in the stomach.
We tried many colors and managed only one fish. Better than the last outing that got me no fish but a great day out anyway.
Good luck everyone.
