Quinte Fishing

A huge school of walleye are still in and around the area from big bay all the way to the trent river. Before we got the wind and rain storm trolling was doing quite well in the big bay area. Mainly infront of big island ,trident point and rush bar. The guys that were jigging were still doing the best. A lot have been asking me " jigging with what" I do know that jigging spoons have been doing the best but some of the guys are doing well with jig heads. As far as colours the silver chart and silver red have been my biggest demand. Hopkins smoothies and cast champs seem to be the way to go. Jig head colours are a mixed preferance. I have a lot of guys coming in and asking for different colours and they all tell me that the colour they buy is the best, so I guess the best I can say is what ever your comfortable with will work. The jigging hot spots are still the trent river and under the bay bridges. I did have one fellow telling me that he and his partner did quite well jigging at the Nappene river mouth and he said I could let you all know.
My steelhead outing this past Monday was a fantastic day. I started out at the trent river and put two nice fish on shore. After 1030 they shut down so I went home had something to eat and grabbed my fly rod and went to Port hope. The river sucked so I headed to the beech and walked about a mile east along the shore line. Once I found a scum line I started to cast. I lost count after 12 ,three of them were browns. One fish took my fly when I was stripping my line back in fast. She jump turned her head and said see ya I'm going to Rochester N.Y. . I had to point my rod and break off or loose all my line. I only lost my fly and low and behold it was my last clouser. After trying four more different flies the hales minnow pattern did the trick. I maybe got three or four more before I had to leave. What a great day. I did get a few pictures and when I finnally get this darn computer figured out I'll post them and all the other fish that we caught so far this season.
