Nets with integrated scale: where?

I remember that here last year someone talked about a net having a scale built in it. Where can I buy one of those? Are they working well?? Is it possible to have it with rubber instead of mesh??

Does the Canadian Tire at Picton still sell those?

I believe I head about a gentleman in PE County that had developed something, but have not heard as to where this sits in the product development to market cycle. It sounded very, very interesting.

The net is made by a company called Magna nets. I believe Kevin Lavers at Merland PArk has some involvement with the company. Give him a call

They are called Magnus nets. I saw them at merlands and liked what I saw.....last fall I orchestrated a deal for 20 of them for myself and some friends.

Pure Garbage...Of the 20 I sold to friends only about 2 or 3 were happy with them. All kinds of problems from scale not accurate, to parts breaking, too small for walleye/pike/lakers, and every one rattles like nothing you have ever heard when under power in the boat

Mine fell overboard in 140 feet of water in early fall and I didn't even shed a tear :wink:

Please keep in mind that this is just not my opinion, but that of 20 experienced anglers. save yourself the trouble and buy a quality salmon-sized net, you'll never regret it.

rather than shell out for some fancy net with a built in scale that is bound to freeze, fail, or otherwise let you down, I just weigh my nets empty and tare the weight. My one little rubber net is exacly 1# since I added some tape on the handle, and the big one is 2 1/2#. Just hook the standard scale into the net, subtract the weight of the net and presto. no lip pierceing, no handling, no fuss, no muss, and enough left for a box of beer.

I have to agree , these nets are garbage :evil:

, the basket rips at the fishs scales, hooks pierce the webbing ,so getting the fish unhooked as soon as possible ... is impossible, again damaging the fish .. these nets are ment for meat hunters only, if you plan on releasing your fish.... get another type of net.... I Got rid of mine
