First of all the questions I got on the clouser fly. I do tie some of my own but I also bring them in pre tied to sell. It comes in a varity of colour patterns but the one that has been the deadliest for us this year for bass , walleye, and trout has been the chartruse/white and the yellow/white. The colours that I tie for myself is blue/silver/white and green/silver/white these I tie a little different than the usual.
Secondly:- is the questions on the hales minnow. This fly was created by a local fisherman , Glen Hales. For our confidance levels some of the guys in our club and myself did some minor ghanges to it. mainly the style of hook and we tie it in some different colour combinations. We still call it the hales minnow mainly out of respect for Glen.
There are a few other styles and desighns of flies out there that we tie up ourselves and are having great success on them also but we have no name as of yet for them There is one young fellow that joined the club this year and he came up with a desighn of his own that kicked butt one eveing when the group of us were out fly fishing for bass. This one has no name either but it sure works. The club is growing quite fast and I've seen some interesting flies that have been created by different fellows and some work extreamly well. One of these days I'm going to get these guys to put a name to them.

hales minnow is a great fly, I tied a couple of them, bass hit them so hard they'll send a shock down your fly rod. clousers are a must, so easy and fun to tie, have a fly box that is purely dedicated "CLOUSERS ONLY"
one I've had luck with that I learned in "american angler" fly fishing mag is the "spawn of copper john" a large copper john with rubber legs sticking out of the thorax, bass go insane for those as well.

I am very interested in seeing the Hales Minnow. I maintain that it must be a chub..... and please pass this on to Glen Hales from.....me. Now that I am home for the holidays, I will have to drop around to see a sample.

I have all my tieing stuff at work in BC but rarely bother with it now, as my eyes are weaker. I used to enjoy fooling around with Klousers, given the design, enabling a bait to drop very fast and very directly.

If you want to see the hales wait till you see another new fly called the architec fly. This is another fly that you cant find on the internet and let me tell you it is just as deadly. I think that the Canadian Fly Fisher mag. did an article on it a while back.
