Hiya' guys!!!

Well, we got to Skevy's at about 7:45 am on Friday, after a 3 hour drive. Ron was great with the info and supplied us with our few dozen minnows, as well as selling us a few must haves...can't seem to leave a tackle shop without donating a few bucks for the cause.... Got to Merlands and met Kevin at about 8:45....fishing in a rental at about 9:30. No takers on the body baits, fishing the shoals around Youngs pt, Mallory bay and past the cement plant. Set up for a drift past Thompson point and at about 12:30 pm...yellow jig and a 3 inch minnow.....thump... 12.3 pound eye...what a thrill!!!! After the hoots and hollers, we settled in for a few more drifts. Concentrated our efforts between Shermans Pt., Thompsons Pt. and Mallory bay, as well as the plant and nothing else till about 4:30 pm. Got a 7 pound pike on a minnow, and then Pete landed his personal best, a 11.5 pound eye on a Mann's stretch 20 (Dr. Death colour) just north of the plant on the first shoal on the west side. Headed in for dinner around 5:30, out again by 7. Got socked in by the fog and drizzle...lost our bearings for a bit, picked up the lights from the road on the west side of the bay, found the plant again and trolled back, went and fishless after dark.

Saturday was a two fish day, a 10 pound pike and a 9 pound eye, both caught by Pete, who was extatic since he hasn't sen walleye so big before. No small ones for the pan this time, but what a trip. Just wish we had a few more numbers in the boat, but can't complain about catching our personal walleye bests to date!!!!

Thanks to Kevin at Merlands for hosting us, the cottage was sparkling clean and hospitality plus, the boat was perfect for the conditions, although the wind whipped our butts pretty good.

Thanks to Superdad, Kevin at Merland's, rpaling, and Ron at Skevy's for the info on the fishing in the area, you are all gentlemen and true sportsmen which contributed to making our trip a success!!!

The pics are coming once I scan them to disc since they were taken on a regular camera and just got developed, I'll post them in a day or two.

BTW, Kevin, we'll be back!!!!!!!

Cheers and tight lines, see you on the ice!!!!

Chris Landry/Pete Speek in Waterloo.
