After talking with Ron @ Skevy`s we decided to venture out on the ice from Pt. Anne and try for some morning Walleye. Boy the freezing rain Sat. morning made the drive seem long. We set up just west of the red marker and as soon as I turned the flasher on there was a fish down there.....Gotta like it!!!
I lost one right away and my nephews buddy hooks a nice eater and lays it on the ice. Here what the ice looked like from where I was standing.
Than I hooked this one and it measured 22.5"
Than buddy Todd iced this beauty....
Than it was Ians turn and he landed this fish....
We ended up with 9 fish landed and all the bigger fish were released. The best part was 4 of us fishing and we all landed fish.
Sunday morning we had to go back, so we found the same holes and picked up 7 more eyes. Biggest fish being about 7#`s and released before we could get the pic. We always try to get them back in the water as soon as possible as gills and eyeballs tend to freeze very quickly when it` s as cold as it was. We unhook stick the head back in the hole while one of us fidgets for the camera..... so some of them kick before we get the pic. Oh well!!!!
It was well worth it, we were on 5" of ice and in 22 fow.
Thanks again Ron we really appreciate your help!!!!
