Laker John and I were able to get out on Thursday afternoon for some hard water fishing - the first ice fishing of the year.
We parked at the Shermans Launch Ramp,. along with 7 or 8 trucks and trailers. Walked out on the ice and lined up our landmarks and drilled the holes.
Fishing for fifteen minutes and Laker John hauled out a nice 4.5 lb eye. Sweet, we're not skunked. Twenty mins later he has another - 3.5 lbs. Great Stuff!!!!!
We continued fishing and eventually yours truly hit a fish - gee must be a school of juveniles going by - as the one I landed was 12" in length, Back in the hole. We hit another couple (12-13" range) in short order giving us a view of some of the year classes swimming around.
We fished from 1415 to 1745, with a total of 6 fish landed, four released, four or five strikes and lost fish - so we had a pretty good afternoon.
Great way to kick off our ice adventures.
