I am hardwaterwalleye my real name is rick somerville ; i am the guy that had the group of guys out from the states like i have done over the last 15 to 18 years .And yes they did catch and release alot of fish on thier stay in ontario this week .And have only taken home what the law says they can take home because that is my responablity that they do .One of the reasons that the guys do well that fish with me over the years is because there is a pattern to winter walleyes on quinte ' and that is some thing that has taken many hours and years to figure out and it is some thing that I am not going to give up .So for the guys that like to kick people in the back side they should get there facts in first .THANK YOU
this well be my only post on this page because this rubish

your totally right about the pattern Rick I've been Ice fishing for 10 years now and was able to do well earlier by figureing out the pattern ,It takes time and experience, Like I always say to catch the walleye you have to understand the walleye. I think with so many guys out there I will go look for another spot which would be something I wouln't do in previous years at this time of the year , who wants to catch One or Two Walleyes, why not catch catch a dozen. I'm sure yourself had some incredible days this year, as I did myself. I had a couple days I caught 9 walleyes , a 13 walleyes and a lot of days Ive caught 6 as I'm knocking on my wooden dresser I having got that s word yet! Sometimes its not good to get spoiled like that If you only get three fish you don't think you had a good day until you get on shore and actually think about your outing. I'm would be intrested to see how many other guys caught this season just to compare I'm sure I'm not the only one catching fish like that!

Well good luck for the next couple of days and I'm sure I'll run into you sometime on the ice maybe we can discuss our strategys

Dont let them get to you bud lol............... keep doing what you have been doing all these years , and give it not another thought.. you can please some of the people some of the time, but you cant please them all no matter how nice you are, or how hard you try, there will always be some arm chair quorterback who knows more, done more, cares more. ands dont mind telling you how great they are.. its asy to sit in your den acting 10 foot tall , and bullett proof with a six pack in yer gut. Mostly what you see is negitive words brought on by a negitive person who wouldnt dare confront you on the ice, or say a blipping thing to your face even when they see someone doing wrong out there.

I'd have to agree with Grizzley. Don't let them get to you Hard water. You've put too much time and effort into your work on the bay and most guys are jealous that you can go out and get fish on most days when they cannot. I have a great deal of respect for you and I know that if fishing is tough I can always turn to you for advice. I've known you for a long time and I know that the group of guys that we fish with can joke around a bit with you but regardless of all that they all respect your knowledge of the bay. If anyone ever asked you for help or you noticed that someone wasn't doing so well I know that you'd be the first one to be standing beside them to give them some tips to help them out.

I almost fished the bay 365 for eyes this year..... in the summer we had days with 18-20 walleye caught within 2 hours... in the winter between are group of about 5 guys, we have caught a few but not as many as Rick is reporting.....We fish almost everyday and we have been trying areas with no traffic at all and I think that's the downfall.... moving the hut again today so hopefully that does the trick. Yes we are the lone hut off BAKELITE POINTE NOT MUCH CoMING THROUGH THERE GUYS!
Mike :)

I had the pleasure of fishing with Hardwater Walleye last year, and I've never met a more pleasant person in my life. Not to mention an absolutely fabulous sportsman. You know what made my trip with Rick so unique last year? He didn't hold a class on how to fish, or "ride" us to do things his way. He led by example. We watched, we paid attention and we spent some quality time with him all while fishing. In other words, we learned by watching, experimenting and taking mental notes. Now, the best part of that trip ... we made a lifelong friend.

Keep hammerin Hardwater and we'll see you soon!

You know the phrase I always go with is " you learn something from everybody" no matter how often they fish.
As for the posts....its a public board and unfortunatley you are not always gone like what people write :!:
Take for example in late December when I wrote a report about slamming eyes and walleyecatcher25 gummed me.... he went out himself and hammered fish and later appologized. Yah I was pissed that somebody gummed me but if he said "lets go fishin"I would in a heartbeat. It`s what we`re all here for :!: I like the fact people post pics it proves they were actually out fishing. I have questioned peoples ethics on keeping big fish before as some have but lets face it " its because we care" and without that passion much would be lost. If its in the limit then "enjoy". :D
So everyone keep on posting that what makes the board interesting cause when there is nothing to read it " just plain sucks"

Lets go fishing :!:
