Unless the 30 HP motor is on a canoe why would you need a trolling plate?

I bought a small size "happy troller" for my 14'6" G3 with 25hp 4 stroke yamaha. It's easy to use and the quality is good. Pull the string to engage, forward trottle to disengage. bass pro $90. #38-580-518-00.
I put the plate on before I got the rig wet...turns out it trolls slow enough for me without the plate.....

Sailor i have a honda 30hp 4 stroke and it will troll down to 1.9-2.0 mph and that has no trolling plate. Is this a motor you have had for a while and can't get to troll down or new and havn't tried yet??.My brother has a yamaha 40hp 4 stroke and yes it trolls a little fast for my liking but not anything that dosn't produce.I suggest if it's new try it,if not maybe have the dealer set it up to troll down,GOOD LUCK,WAITING ON MAY,K.M.B.F.
