Quinte Fishing

hi everyone some great catches being reported .i am surprised that those critical fishermen haven't had alot to say ,especially with the numbers being posted.this type of fishing has been occurring for some of us right along but with the critical eliment out there everyone is afraid to report it.vertical jigging with a minnow working well and sassy shad tiped with a minnow is also doing well.using these methods you catch a lot of different fish,size wise that is.also for my money it is alot more fun than downrigger fishing or those plainers.seems to be alot of fish can't wait to get out on the ice....

I agree about why do you need to spend so much money on
expensiv downriggers and st2pid plainers, dipse divers and other expensive exsessores. Why cant you just cast or other
cheaper methods.

I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to those of you posting on this site. We traveled a long way and were impressively rewarded. Our largest fish last week (Nov.30) was 15lb.10oz. We had a number of other really nice fish. We had a total of 45 fish for 2-1/2 days of effort until it got so cold Tuesday we left. Thanks again and Quinte seems alive and well!

Hey White Ranger, we were talking about you on another fishing site up here last night. www.fishontario.com/reports. I'm pretty sure we saw you working the magic on Picton Bay Saturday during the day. We were in a tan coloured 14 ft. aluminum with a 20 hp. merc a little closer to the south shore. Were you guys a little further out to the middle of the Bay? We went 4 for 6 Saturday with largest 13.2. Your 15+ is a true trophy in every sense. Did you get any eating size fish during your visit? Just curious. Fish were everywhere out there.

White Ranger. You are from the U.S. I presume. Where, and do you fish any of the major circuits there.I was in the gold and blue Tracker. I fish the PWT and I was wondering if I knew of you .

Why must you insist on talking about something you obviously know nothing about. I am refering to the comment " stupid planers, downriggers, dipseys etc." If these fishing tools were stupid that would make the collective association of Great Lakes charter captains a bunch of psych ward candidates. I used to jig exclusively for Quinte fish. Since I evolved as a fisherman I have decided that I would rather catch 15 or 20 or maybe 30 big fish a day than catch the occasional big fish while jigging up a bunch of sissy cigars. People won't pay guys like me $500 a day to catch 15 inchers. Sure the jiggers have the odd good day now and then but I will take my stupid planers any day.

People love to criticize what they can't afford.How's work at McDonalds treating you.

Targa2........We do not fish any tournaments.......all fun fishing. That was our first open water trip there...and for us it was truely a trip of a lifetime. If it gets any better........couldn't stand it. I am so happy to see the restrictions that must help make it a Trophy fishery. The 15lb.10oz was our largest fish ever. The two other guys I was with have caught and released over 500 fish over 8 pounds over the past. We had 7 fish over 13 lbs. on this trip which to us was like being in Walleye Heaven. tkanks again to all the posts that led us to the great fishing. With the weather the way it is this week......I would like to return but it's a 12 hour trip for us. Thanks.

I make it clear to my clients that I am not a meat hunter. If they are hesitant then they don't get in my boat.I have never had a problem so far. If I do have a problem ,I'm 6' 2" , 225 lbs and have a very bad temper. Really the key is to be upfront about your intentions on the phone so there are no surprises. Most people I find just want the thrill of a trophy. I have a guy that wants one fish for the wall coming up from Arkansas next year. He is fishing five days and wants 1 big wallhanger. I have no problem with that.If all fishermen in the past had this limitation set for themselves the fishery would likely be in better shape.
