Quinte Fishing

My buddy has a 16ft. lowe with a 90 hp mariner on, for trolling it is a bit to fast,what would the pros and cons be for adding a drift sock to slow us down, or would there be anything better to use short of adding a smaller trolling motor?

I am using this method and extremely satisfied, use 30" size on your boat.

One tip about using drift socks. I use them often and when I first started out I ran it off the back of the boat. Steering the boat was brutal! I decided to run it off the front bow eye and it made a world of difference.

My buddy Maverick just put one on his boat. 18' bass boat with 125hp it went from trolling at 2.8mph - 1.3mph after putting drift sock out so yes it made all the difference and we done very well after putting it out.

i have a 14' with a 30 hp, trolls a bit fast. used my buddies drift sock once and now I am buying one. The work very well!!! But definetly go off the front of the boat for steering and I was amazed that only one sock does not steeer you to one side all the time, I thought for balance you'd need one on each side but one is great. hope this helps. of course a trolling motor as well would be sweet to for those shallow spots.
