I am going to buy a drift sock for trolling with my 16.5' Princecraft. Just not sure what size to get or what type seems to work best. Also if I could get some advice on whether I need the harness with float and the best way to use it.

Duke,
I have a 16 1/2 foot Lund and I run 30" socks ( 2 if it is really windy due to the high sided boat ) without any harness , I just tied a rope to end with a loop to alow me to tie off to the boat . I do not have any issues with this setup . Hopefully this helps , Flappy

on my pro 164 I run two drift socks to get the desired speed. Both are off the front cleats just ahead of the windshield. I run them off the front so they are out of the way at the back of the boat. If you do go with this set up do not get the big socks try to get the smaller ones. With just one sock it was to hard to control direction of boat.
