Was out to fish with Superdave(my son) and my Dad on Saturday morning, headed to the west shore of Long Reach to try and escape the SW wind. Not much luck as it was blowing straight up the Reach.
Trolled from the Willow Tree and my Dad had landed a 12" eye within ten minutes, we thought the bite was on, talked to a friend from New York on the radio and he was on the radio, when we finally had another strike. My Dad landed a nice 19" walleye on the Superdad Swinger.
The weather reports were predicting a direction change and did it ever swing - straight from the west. We had left the Reach and were heading to the Old Church and were pushed right along with the three foot waves.
Made a pass dodging the weeds and found a channel thru them and my Dad hit another 19.5" eye on the Superdad Swinger again. That lure is working very well.
The winds drove us off the water at 1300
My Dad and I got out Sunday Morningand headed for the Old Church again, but were unable to get any action other than a ton of perch. Made a couple of passes at Shermans Pt where we picked up a 12" walleye. Headed for the Yellow Can and trolled to Thompsons with Crankbaits. Marked many fish, but couldn't attract any strikes.
Talked to a friend who was flatlining and who had attracted several fish on his deepdivers.
Back to the dock at 1330 hrs.
With the tough fishing of the past while, we felt lucky to hit a nice pair on Saturday.
Stay Tuned
