Laker John and I headed east of the ferry on Saturday AM and ended up at the Gap. A bit of a run from Hay Bay, Approx 45 mins.
Trolled around the Gap and was amazed at the shallow water off the County. Finally found the deep water and headed west in 150'
We had four boards out and we got a hit on an outside board with a Purple Power Dive running 160' from the board - Missed - just came off.
We trolled for a LONG time and after many lure changes, Laker John had a hit on the outside board on a Yo Zuri Crystal Minnow (Chartreuse and White). He landed a 23.5" (5lbs-actual weight) fish - fish had a small growth on its dorsal fin.
We switched all the lures to Yo Zuri's Chartreuse and little while later, we had another strike, I landed a nice 20" (3lbs) on the Crystal Minnow.
We were having our hits whenever we passed by schools of baitfish, they were there but not many and they were scattered.
Finished the day after we passed the Lighthouse and we disrupted several hundres cormorants who were feeding and we were looking for bait fish.
Headed back to Hay Bay around 1615 - a long day on the water but we learned a great in that area.
One of the campers at Bayview hit a 23" fish flatlining in the general area of the West Shore and cement plant.
Stay Tuned.
