Was out fishing off of Potters Creek in Belleville for the last 4 hours. The ice is a good 6 inches (one of the good things about having a slot size in effect, is that you've always got a tape measure in your pocket
). Caught a half dozen small 4 inch perch.
Came back in to drop off a bored dog, pick up another batch of minnows, and hava bowl of chili. Will be back out there tonight to fish 'til dark.
The bait shop said that a group was out there a few days ago, and they had a school of walleye move through. They caught a mess of them in the 19-25" range. No keepers.... all in the no keep slot.
The best bite on the bay is the last couple of hours of the day (and into the evening. for those nocturnal folks). As I was leaving the parking lot on the bay, a few fishermen were showing up for this evening bite.
Gotta go.... chili is getting cold and the bite on ice should be starting!
