The last few years, we have on occasion left our boat on its trailer parked out behind the Tip of the Bay, the big apparently-unused hotel parking lot on the west[left] side of the Picton boat launch ramp area. There were other boats [fishing boats, sailboats] either parked there on trailers, or dry-docked for the winter. We sometimes left it there for a few days between fishing trips to save trailering it back and forth from home.

What is the current status of that parking lot? Is it still the same as last year? Have they torn it up for condos yet?

Anyone know the status of that grassy area on the east side of the lot?

Is there anyone anyplace in the Picton-Glenora area who will let us store a 17-foot boat on a trailer [not too huge] until the bay freezes up?

Cheers,
Pete [and Ron]

OK, so lemme try to figure this out.

So far, there have been one hundred and ninety-two page views of this post, and not one of you is willing to tell me WHAT YOU SAW next to the boat ramp in Picton?

I would really appreciate if somebody would!

Thanks,
Pete

As far as I know, the status of the parking at Tip of the Bay is the same as last year. There are still quite a few boats there for winter storage.

I live across the Bay from the launching ramp in the 2-story green/white house down close to the water, although I am not there all the time.

I launched there a couple of days ago to go fishing and the status is the same as last year there is not much happening around there at the present time. The only construction that I saw was on the road in front of Tip of The Bay.

Regards,
Sam

The grassy area on the east side of the lot has a "private no parking" sign on it. I don't know who owns it or what is the deal with it but apparently they don't want you to park there. I own a campground on West Lake and if you wanted to leave your boat here I don't think that would be a problem. I'm leaving for Brazil on Tuesday and will be gone for almost three weeks so let me know soon if you want to leave it here. My father lives onsite and will be here the whole time as will my wife, so I just have to let them know to expect you. Let me know...Scott

Lundprov,

No...the trip is with a volunteer organization that is building a church down there. I have four or five days at the end for R&R and I'm going to try and get some fishing in.

scott,

Your not taking your wife along? how did you manage to get that lucky. Atleast when you get time to go fishing you will have no body there wanting you home for dinner. Anyway how was the duck hunting the other day?

Dave

I'm not sure how I managed to go alone but I'm sure I'll pay for it later :D .

The duck hunting has been fantastic all year. A lot of the northern ducks are down and they were moving all day. We had a lot of fun.
