Quinte Fishing

We have many options to chose from when choosing a planer setup. We can use either inlines or mast/dual board setups. I know each has it's advantages and disadvantages.
I'm curious what the percentage is that uses each and what brand. I've left out brands for the dual board setups. I have even seen plans to make your own.
We use both church tackle and offshore inlines. Both seem to work well.

i have used big jon otter boats and off shore inline planner boards and had better luck with the off shores setting four out. one out about 50 feet and the other at 75 feet. and may set up the other side a little different depending what my fish finder has to say on what deep the walleye are. and the lure am using. say a Mann stretch 20 fish are at 28 feet on the finder. the holy bible says to get that lure down to 28 feet you have to let out 185 feet of line. then put on the off shore in line board. and then i let it out may be 75 feet on the first rod. and 45 feet on the second rod. bottom line it all depends what lure you are using. reel with line counters are a must. at Quinte. that's just my two seconds. happy fishing see you on the water, waterdreamer. and if you up at Quinte this coming week end i be there. give me and my buddy Kim wave there for a week. at Merlandpark.

Off-Shore in-line boards.
A few reasons I have settled on these boards and in-lines:

They run a full 10 colour of lead-core with no adjustments
Easy to read in any water condition
Stay upright at pause or slow walleye trolling speeds
Tattle flag kit works for light bites when running harness with crawlers
Can run them with both clips on the arm for easy removal and clearing
Boards are easy to clear when changing baits or clearing lines
In-Line boards add excellent action to baits when the waves kick up
In-Line board have no slack when a fish takes a bait - line stays tight between fish and rod tip.

Im running church walleye inline boards. I dont like them very much either.

I find that with long lines and deep diving lures the boards seem to pull and usally only one side will keep out to the side as its made to. Depending on the direction im running.

My next time out I'll be running offshore boards!

I have the offshore boards and now Iown the church boards I think the offshore boards are crap compared to the Church Tackle Walleye boards.

You can run braid from the church board not the offshore.They are faster and easier to set up.

If the board is not plowing through the waves properly you can adjust them there is a weight on the bottom something you don't have with the offshore.

Hard to believe some of you don't like the church tackle boards.

Try adjusting them and you will see they are the best inline boards money can buy.

When the chop is up you can adjust the church boards not the offshore.

I use mast and dual boards (All home made), however at times I use Off-shore in-lines.

I have a question though...can the Off-shore in-line boards hold a dipsy and a deep diving crankbait? If not, does anyone have any solid ideas in running dipsy's off boards effectively?

I like to run offshores on the outside and church mini planer (i think they are tx-6's) boards on the inside

No need to use a dipsy off a board. Dipsy divers go down and out to the side when you use a 1, 2 or 3 setting. Also the dipsy dives so you do not need to use a deep diving crank as the dipsy does all the diving work. Dipsys are used often on Lake Erie to get spoons, spinners and cranks into the feeding zone of walleye.
